| Berberine an alkaloid used in China to treat several metabolic disorders. Berberine and the prebiotic stachyose are used to treat type 2 diabetes. These together show better glycemic control through modulating the gut microbiota. In mice, an increased abundance of Akkermansia muciniphila by 91.4% was observed when both drugs were combined. |
