decrease toxicity
Methotrexate, a widely used anticancer drug, can lead to mucositis as a very common side effect. Bacteroides fragilis limits methotrexate side effect. It was observed that B. fragilis significantly decreased in methotrexate-treated mice with the increasing number of macrophages. Colonized mice gut with B. fragilis before methotrexate treatment significantly relieves gut mucositis.
