Methotrexate is an anticancer drug can cause mucositis. It was found that co-administration with vitamins B2 and C reduces the severity of inflammation. This action was contributed to the modulation of the gut microbiome. Both of the vitamins can enhance the growth of anaerobic bacteria Blautia coccoides and Roseburia intestinalis in vitro. While administration of vitamin C in vivo reduces clinical symptoms of mucositis
