affect activity
Nuciferine is a compound extracted from lotus leaf that is used in China to reduce weight gain. Several changes in the gut microbiota have taken place while taking nuciferine which suggests the role of the gut microbiome in its action. Mainly, a decrease in the abundance of firmicutes, an increase in the short-chain fatty acid-producing bacteria, and a decrease in the relative abundance of the lipo poly saccharide producing genus Desulfovibrio.
