affect cleavage
Human gut microbes are able to cleave the hydrazine linkage of orally administered eltrombopag, used to treat low blood platelet counts sometimes, into its metabolites. These metabolites are exclusively eliminated in urine. In mice and in vitro, antibiotic treatment inhibited eltrombopag cleavage. These results were demonstrated upon anaerobic incubation with rodent cecal contents or human fecal homogenate.
