affect O-sulfonation
Acetaminophen toxicity is associated with elevated levels of p-cresol, which competes with acetaminophen on the o-sulfonation metabolism. p-cresol is produced by some members of the bacterial community; thus, establishing an assessment of microbiome activity was suggested as a guideline prior to the administration of acetamniophen.
