N/A reduction
Misonidazole, a radiation sensitizer, is metabolized to its amino derivative [1-(2-aminoimidazol-1-yl)- 3-methoxypropan-2-ol] in pure or mixed cultures of the intestinal microbiota. The metabolite is further metabolized to release CO2. This activity is backed by in vivo evidence: the metabolite was detected in the excreta of conventional but not germ-free rats.
