are affected by abundance
In a study on polyphenols, catechin significantly inhibited the growth of Clostridium histolyticum, but significantly enhanced the growth of Escherichia coli and members of the Clostridium coccoides–Eubacterium rectale group. Meanwhile, the growth of Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus spp. remained relatively unaffected by (+)-catechin.
