Summary Gut microbes (currently unknown members) decrease Geniposide's bioavailability.

decrease bioavailability
In antibiotics-treated rats, the systemic exposure of geniposide was greater than in control rats, while the intact drug was much higher in feces. These findings suggest that the gut microbes metabolize geniposide, and when the metabolic activity of these microbes is inhibited by antibiotic treatment, the bioavailability of geniposide increases.
