Summary Gut microbes (currently unknown members) affect ginsenoside's metabolic processing.

affect metabolic processing
Gut bacteria convert ginsenosides (the major bioactive components of ginseng) into metabolites that inhibit cytochrome P-450s and thus inhibit host xenobiotic metabolism. In summary: microbiota --> ginsenoside metabolism --> inhibition of Cyt P-450. ***** Note: intestinal metabolites have a wide range of inhibition of the P450-mediated metabolism; however, naturally occurring ginsenosides did not inhibit or weakly inhibited human CYP3A4, CYP2D6, CYP2C9, CYP2A6, or CYP1A2.
