| Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that is frequently prescribed for the treatment of hypertension. A drug-drug interaction results from the administration of amlodipine and the antibiotic ampicillin. The gut microbiota converts amlodipine to an inactive pyridine metabolite, so co-administration with antibiotic increases drug bioavailability. |
