Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that is frequently prescribed for the treatment of hypertension. A drug-drug interaction result upon admenstration of Amlodipine and Ampicillin (antibiotic) Gut microbiota converts amlodipine to pyridine metabolite, which is inactive so co-admenstration with antibiotic increase drug bioavailability.
